One of the two scheduled court sessions was conducted on 6th June 2018 at Khartoum North court before Justice/ Abdeen Hamid Dhahi. The prosecutor was not present in court but all the other parties attended. Court was adjourned to 27th and 28th June 2018. Summary of the court session During this court session, five (5) defending witnesses submitted their testimonies and they were questioned by the judge and lawyers’ panels. The names of the defending witnesses are;
20th defending witness: Ahmed Ali Aljameil, 50 years, self-employed and resident of Khartoum.
21st defending witness: Fatima Abduelgadir Salah, 20 years, housewife and resident of Al-Abbasiya. She is a wife of the 13th Defendant/ Saleh Joudat.
22nd defending witness: Ahmed Hamid Kharashi, 23 years, self-employed and resident of Khartoum. 23rd defending witness: Ibrahim Joudat Ibrahim, 24 years, student and resident of Al-Abbasiya. He is a brother of the 13th defendant/ Saleh Joudat Ibrahim.
24th defending witness: Mohamadani Kharashi, 20 years, self-employed and resident of Al-Abbasiya. The summary of testimonies from witnesses;
· The witnesses informed court that, on 2 nd September 2016 the morning of the attack (Al-Sanadra incident) they were together with the two defendants (given below) in Al-Abbasiya or their villages. o Four testified in favour of Saleh Joudat Ibrahim (the 13th defendant) o One testified in favour of Alhadi Abdelrahman Ibrahim (the 8th defendant)
· None of the witnesses above was interrogated or delivered his/ her testimony to the investigator. They were recently requested by the defendants’ relatives to appear in court at this stage of the case.
· The 21st defending witness declared that, she has never heard about Al-Sanadra incident. HUDO Centre Court was adjourned to 27th and 28th June 2018 for the remaining witnesses to deliver/submit their testimonies.
Recommendations/ Appeals HUDO urges all the concerned, especially:
v The Sudan court to conduct the trial fairly
v The activists, defenders and supporters to keep on attending court sessions
v The diplomatic missions and embassies to observe the court sessions
v The Sudan and international media to give full coverage for the court
