HUDO Centre 29thOctober2018 Update (26) COURT TRIAL OF AL-SANADRA CASE
The court session was held on 24th October 2018 at Khartoum North court before Justice/ Atif Abdalla. This court session was meant to hear the opinion from the relatives of the deceased but it was not possible. Court was adjourned to 19th November 2018. Summary of the court session The court session started at 11:00 AM (Sudan local time) before Justice Atif Abdalla, though the prosecutor was absent, the accusing and defendant panel of lawyers was present. Court was scheduled to hear the opinion from the relatives of the deceased but, the accusing panel informed the justice that, they (relatives) agreed to delegate Al-Sanadra village’s Sheikh/ Mayor: Mr. Babikir Abdalla Babikir to give opinion on their behalf. But, they needed more time to complete the procuration/ authorization letters for him. The justice responded by adjourning court to 19th November 2018.
Observation note
Justice/ Murshid Ahmed Elamein who replaced justice/ Abdeen Hamid Dhahi that had started this court case, was also replaced by the current justice/ Atif Abdalla, as he was also promoted to be the judge in court of appeal.

Recommendations/ Appeals HUDO urges all the concerned, especially:
· The Sudan court to conduct the trial fairly
· The activists, defenders and supporters to keep on attending court sessions
· The diplomatic missions and embassies to observe the court sessions
· The Sudan and international media to give full coverage for the court
