RAPE OF UNDERAGE GIRL BY POLICE OFFICER IN GUISAN, SUDAN
On 12th December 2019, police officer raped an underage girl in Madinah-12 of
Geisan, Blue Nile. The police did not allow filing / opening the case. On 12th
December 2019, the police officer lured the victim to a house of a police
sergeant where he raped her from. The same day, the girl informed her family
and was subsequently taken to the village health centre. The medical
investigations confirmed the rape incident by finding seminal fluid and blood
in her vagina. When the family attempted to report/ file a case at police, they
were not allowed. The police forced them to send the victim to Damazin on the
following day for medical investigation where the medical finding was given
differently. Again the rape victim was not allowed to open a case basing on the
new medical report/ findings regardless to her allegation. She is now in very
bad psychological state since then. The raped victim N. KH is 16 years old and
student. Madinah-12 is a village in Geisan locality of Blue Nile State in a
distant of sixty (60) KM from Damazin town. According to her allegation, the
accused person is a lieutenant police officer (M. M. A) Head of Madinah-12
police post. HUDO is very concerned about the incident and ongoing violations
in conflict areas. HUDO calls upon;
· Sudan minister of justice
to ensure rule of law is implemented.
· Police in Blue Nile State
to carry out genuine investigations, to apprehend and present the suspected
officer before courts of law.
· Sudanese and
international civil society to focus more on conflict areas.
