URGENT APPEAL MURDER OF A CIVILIAN AND CRITICALLY INJURING ANOTHER IN AL-ABBASIYA,
SUDAN
On 22nd January 2020, Mr. Mohammed Abduelbagi was killed and his
colleague Mr. Ali Kabashi was fatally injured from gun shots. The two were
attacked, shot at and robbed by six masked armed men in Al-Abbasiya. A case was
filed at Al-Abbasiya police office against anonymous. On 22nd January 2020,
both Mr. Abduelbagi and Mr. Kabashi were traveling together on a motorbike from
Al-Abbasiya to their village Baloula. Six armed and masked men riding
motorbikes obstructed the road and robbed them of their money and later shot
them. After shooting, the attackers jumped on their bikes and went away leaving
the wounded victims for dead. It was discovered later that Mr. Abduelbagi had
died while Mr. Kabashi was seriously injured. They were taken to Al-Abbasiya
hospital and a case was filed at Al-Abbasiya police office. The family of
Kabashi who was critically injured transferred him to Um-Rawaba hospital to
access better health care services. HUDO is very concerned about the situation
of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Sudan government at state
and central level to urgently investigate the state of insecurity in South
Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains and to solve it urgently.
· Sudan government to
ensure that police executes their duties responsibly
· Sudan government to
ensure the safety of people in conflict areas
· Sudan government to
dissolve the PDF and disarm them.
· Sudan government to

information Mr. Mohammed Abduelbagi Dai-Elnour was a 32 year old teacher and
Ali Kabashi (28 years old) is a farmer. Al-Abbasiya is capital of Al-Abbasiya
locality of South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains. Baloula is a village in a distance
of around 56 km Southeast Al-Abbasiya. Um-Rawaba is a town in North Kordufan in
a distance of 82 km northeast Al-Abbasiya town. The state of insecurity is
worsening in South Kordufan particularly in the east region where there are
majority of People Defense Force (PDF) soldiers. Many unresolved killing
incidents were reported, for instance;

Musa Jar-Elnabi was shot dead by three masked men in Elfaid Um-Abdalla § On 4th December 2019, Mr.
Mohammed Ahmed Eltahir was shot dead by PDF soldiers in Shaq-Elkitir of
Umbrembeta
§ On 21st November 2019,
Mr. Mohammed Eissa was shot dead and Mr. Mohammed Osman was injured by six
armed PDF soldiers in Abu-Kershola In all, police filed the cases against
anonymous and no further investigations were taken. The affected rights: Right
