                                         PDF SOLDIERS KILLED A DRIVER AND ROBBED PASSENGERS IN AL-ABBASIYA, SUDAN

On 7th December 2020, Mr. Ali Mohammed Zaitouna (a driver) was shot dead and the passengers onboard were robbed by armed PDF soldiers in Al-Abbasiya locality. This case was filed against anonymous at Al-Abbasiya police but there is no further investigation. On 7 thDecember 2020, Mr. Ali Mohammed Zaitouna (63 years old) a driver of a mini truck was shot dead and the passengers on board were robbed and assaulted,. The incident happened along the road (approximately 30 km Northeast Al-Abbasiya), while they were traveling from Kosti town to Al[1]Abbasiya town. They were attacked by four armed people dressed in People Defense Force (PDF) uniform and riding motorbikes. After shooting/ killing the driver, they assaulted (beat) the passengers and took their money and smart-phones. Afterwards, the attackers disappeared. This case was filed (reported) at Al-Abbasiya police but no further investigation was done. Al-Abbasiya is a capital town of Al-Abbasiya locality in Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Kosti is a city in White Nile State bordering South Kordufan State. The distance between the two cities is about 200 km. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Sudan government at state and central level to immediately investigate this case and to hold the perpetrators accountable before court of law.
· Sudan government to hold Al-Abbasiya police accountable for the misconduct.
· Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.
· Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed
· Sudan government to dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
