Underage injured by gunshot in Kadogli

On 19th January 2021, a juvenile (underage) named Abduelhamid Ando and his uncle Mr. Amein Abduelkareem were seriously injured by gun shots from unknown armed people who entered their house at night in Kadogli town. The juvenile was transferred to Elobeid hospital for further medical treatment. The case was filed against anonymous at Kadogli police office. On 19thJanuary 2021 at around 02:00 AM (Sudan local time), Mr. Amein Abduelkareem Hamid together with his young nephew Abduelhamid Elhadi Osman (underage) were attacked by armed people while sleeping at their house in Eldaraga Althaltha neighbourhood of Kadogli. They were awaken by the sounds of strange people/ robbers already inside their house. When the thieves/ attackers recognized that the house occupants had woken up, they immediately shot at them inside the room. Mr. Abduelhamid was shot and injured in the chest and Mr. Amein was shot and injured on the left leg. The offenders run away after shooting. The two victims had been taken to the military hospital in Kadogli and thereafter Abduelhamid was referred to Elobeid hospital for an operation. This case was filed against anonymous at Kadogli central police office. Mr. Abduelhamid Elhadi Osman Ando is student of 17 years old and his uncle Mr. Amein Abduelkareem Hamid is a 32 year old policeman. Kadogli is the capital town of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Elobeid is the capital town of North Kordufan State in a distance of about 300 km North of Kadogli. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Sudan government to urgently investigate and address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.
· Sudan government to ensure the safety of people in conflict areas.
· Sudan government to dissolve and disarm the government militias and withdraw unlicensed weapons from the public.
