Injuring of a civilian in Kadogli

                                                                        CIVILIAN SHOT AND INJURED IN KADOGLI, SUDAN

On 1st February 2021, Mr. Hammad Zakaria Abouna was shot and injured inside his house in Kadogli town by unknown person at night. The case was filed/ reported at the police office against anonymous but no further investigations were carried out. On 1st February 2021(around 01:00 AM Sudan local time), while Mr. Hammad Zakaria Abouna was sleeping at his house in Hai Elsouq (market suburb) in Kadogli town, unknown person (gunman) shot bullets through the house and injured his pelvic (right side). Zakaria was rushed by his family members to Kadogli hospital where he received first aid. The medical personnel recommended that a medical surgery should be done to remove the bullet in which he was taken by his family to Khartoum. Members of his family reported the case at Kadogli police against anonymous but no further investigations was done. One of his relatives expressed to HUDO that, “the assailant(s) did not break into our house and up to now we do not know how it happened. This raised fear among the family members and our neighbours because it may happen again since the police has not sanctioned any serious investigations”. Mr. Hammad Zakaria Abouna is 20 years old and self-employed. Kadogli is the capital city of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State HUDO Centre is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Sudan government at state and central level to immediately investigate this case.
· Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.
· Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed
· Sudan government to dissolve militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
