PRESS STATEMENT
CIVILIAN KILLED BY PDF IN RAAS ELFEEL, SUDAN
On 28th February 2021, a group of PDF soldiers’ invaded Raas Elfeel village
shot and killed Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Burma at his animal farm and they had run
away after. On 28th February 2021, while Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Burma was
attending to his animals (Zareeba) in Raas Elfeel, he was attacked by armed
people dressed in PDF uniform. The assailants killed him with gun shots. When
the neighbours heard noise from the gun-shot, they came towards the crime
scene, but the assailants had shot on them while they (assailants) are fleeing
to the west direction towards the governmental territory. One of the
eyewitnesses informed HUDO that, he thinks the reason behind the attack was
likely to be for looting the cattle. That has been the trend by the PDF
especially towards the SPLA-N controlled areas. Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Burma (36
years old) is a farmer (both cultivation and cattle keeping). Raas Elfeel is a
village within SPLA-N territory about 12 km North of Lagawa town of Nuba
Mountain. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of
civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Sudan government to
address the state of insecurity in Nuba Mountains.
· Sudan government to
maintain and observe the announced ceasefire with SPLA-N.
· Sudan government to
ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed
· Sudan government to
dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
