Campaign of Arrest in Kadogli

                                                                       ARBITRARY ARREST OPERATIONS IN KADOGLI, SUDAN

Since 27th October 2021, joint military troops carried out arbitrary arrests in Kadogli targeting the activists. They are carrying such arrests as an attempt to prevent demonstrations. The detainees were released after intimidation. Since 27th October 2021, joint armed troops in uniforms of Sudan Armed Force, Rapid Support Force, Police and General intelligence Service with military vehicles conducted series of arrests in Kadogli town as indicated below; On 27th October 2021, Mr. Mohammed Hassan, Mr. Mohammed Abakar (members of Dilling Resistant committee) and Mr. Mohammed Salim (member of Habilla Resistant Committee) were arrested from a guest house. On 28th October 2021, Mr. Hassan Khalid Nahawi, Dr. Saifeldin Elhassan Zakaria and Mr. Abu-Elgasim Hussein Abdalla (the three are activists) were also arrested from their houses On 30th October 2021, Mr. Omer Mohammed Osman was arrested from the street. They were detained at Kadogli police office and denied access to their lawyers. During the interrogation by the arrested group, the detainees were intimidated and assaulted. They were later released on the night of 30th October 2021 after being threatened not to participate in organizing demonstrations. No case was opened against them expect Mr. Nahawi, police has filed a case against him based on article 63 and 69 of Sudan Criminal Penal 1991 and he was released on bail HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· The prosecution office in Kadogli to stop such kinds of arrests and to account for the conducted arrests.
· The national, international organizations and UN agencies to pay attention especially to the conflict areas mainly during this time of the coup.
