Two farmers killed near Umbrembeta

                                                               TWO FARMERS WERE FOUND DEAD NEAR UMBREMBETA, SUDAN

On 6th November 2021, Mr. Omer Ali Eltahir and Mr. Ezzeldin Mahmoud Mohammed were found dead by their fellow farmers near Umbrembeta town, and their bodies had gunshot wounds. The murder case was reported against anonymous at Umbrembeta police. On 6 th November 2021, Mr. Omer Ali Eltahir (57 years old) and Mr. Ezzeldin Mahmoud Mohammed (30 years old) were found dead by their fellow farmers. The bodies which had gunshots wounds were found on the way between Umbrembeta town and their farms. The motorbikes of the deceased were found next to them and nothing was robbed/ taken from them. The farmers took the dead bodies to Umbrembeta hospital and a case was filed against anonymous at Umbrembeta police office. One of the community leaders in Umbrembeta informed HUDO Centre that, the killed persons/ farmers were from Hawazma tribe. Since the cause of killing was not robbery, it triggered accusations and tension between communities. The police have not helped in terms of investigations. Umbrembeta is a town in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. The site where the dead bodies were found is about 4 km southwest Umbrembeta town and near Kadbar village. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to apprehend the perpetrators.
· The national, international organizations and UN agencies to pay attention to the conflict areas especially during this time of the military coup.
