Farmers robbed in Redeina

                                                   FARMERS ROBBED AND ASSAULTED BY ARMED PEOPLE IN REDEINA, SUDAN

On 4th August 2022, eight armed men with masks attacked and robbed farmers at Asaad’s farm in Redeina. They robbed them of their belongings and injured one. The incident was reported to Abu-Kershola police but, police did not respond. On 4th August 2022, armed robbers assaulted and robbed Mr. Asaad Mohammed Ali Elkhair (68 years old) together with his workers at his farm in Redeina village. They were eight armed robbers with masks and had four (4) motorbikes and two (2) tuktuks. They robbed them of their smart phones, money, fuel and other belongings. Afterwards they beat Mr. Asaad with sticks, broke his both legs and they went away. Mr. Asaad was taken by his workers to Abu-Kershola hospital for treatment and later his family took him to El-Rahad town for further treatment. A case was filed by his workers/ victims and family at Abu-Kershola police but, police did not respond or visit the incident scene. Radeina is an agricultural village in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. It is about 15 km southwest Abu-Kershola town. El-Rahad is the nearest town in North Kordufan State and it’s about 70 km North Abu-Kershola town. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.
· The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.
· The security committee in South Kordufan State to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
