Two gunmen shot at casual workers in Lagawa

                                                           TWO GUNMEN SHOT AT CASUAL WORKERS IN LAGAWA, SUDAN

On 5th September 2022, two armed people shot at two casual workers and run away. One of the victims sustained injuries. The case was reported to Lagawa police but, there was no response. On 5th September 2022, Mr. Gasim Mohammed Farajalla (22 years old) and his colleague were shot at by two armed men while working (loading sand on a tractor cart) near Lagawa town. The attackers were dressed in civilian clothes and armed with guns. They randomly shot at them before running away. As a result, Mr. Gasim Mohammed Farajalla (22 years old) was injured on his right hip joint. He was subsequently taken by his fellow laborer (worker) to Lagawa hospital. They reported this case at Lagawa police against unknown attackers (the victims only identified the assailants as people from Arab tribe). The injured person was given first aid in Lagawa hospital before being transferred by his family to Elobeid hospital. Up to date no investigation was carried out by police to pursue the attackers and apprehend them. Both victims of the shooting are from Nuba tribes. Lagawa is a town in Nuba Mountain within West Kordufan State territory. Elobeid is the capital of North Kordufan State and it is more than 200 km from Lagawa. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
· Police in West Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.
· The prosecutor in West Kordufan State to ensure that there is rule of law.
· The security committee in West Kordufan State to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
