UPDATE ON ARREST OF MR. HAMID RAMADAN BY SAF IN TALODI, SUDAN
On 27th October 2022,Mr. Hamid Ramadanwas arrested by SAF and on 3 rd November 2022, he was unconditionally released from detention of Talodi military base without interrogation or being told reasons why he was detained. Mr. Hamid Ramadan was arrested on27th October 2022, by six (6) armed soldiers dressed in Sudan Armed Force (SAF) uniform from his house in Talodi town. He was taken to Talodi military basewhere he has been held incommunicado for one week before his release. On 3 rd November 2022, Mr. Hamid Ramadan was unconditionally released by SAF without being interrogated or told reasons why he was arrested. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the situation of civilians in SK State andcalls upon;
· SAF in Talodi to stop arrest civilians arbitrarily.
· Sudan government to end the state of emergency in conflict areas which enablesSAF to carry out arrests at will.
· Sudan government to follow the rule of law.
· The SAF and authorities in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the circumstances around Mr. Hamid’s arrest by SAF Talodi and to make the findings public.
