Armed robbery at Shaq Eldukhry

On 10th December 2022, four armed robbers waylaid passengers who were travelling from Sidrah to Abu-Kershola. In the process, they killed Mr. Adam Yousif and injured many passengers especially Mr. Abdalla. The case was reported at Abu-Kershola police but, police did not respond. On 10th December 2022, four armed men putting face masks obstructed a commercial vehicle while shooting at it. The truck was travelling with passengers from Sidrah village to Abu-Kershola after the weekly market. The incident happened at place known as Shaq-Eldukhry, north of Abu-Kershola. As a result of the shooting, one passenger (Mr. Adam Yousif Abduelhameed) died and others got injured especially Mr. Abdalla Yousif who was shot on the abdomen. The assailants robbed passengers of their money, mobile phones and goods and they later disappeared. After the incident, the truck with passengers/victims also moved up to Abu-Kershola. The victims reported the case to Abu-Kershola police. The injured person was transferred to Elobeid town hospital (capital of North Kordufan) for treatment. The dead body was buried by his relatives. However, police did not go on to investigate not even visiting the crime scene. Sidrah is a village at the mid of an agricultural scheme. It has a weekly market attended by residents from the surrounding villages and cities and it’s located within North Kordufan State border. It is about 30 km north of Abu-Kershola. Shaq-Eldukhry and Abu-Kershola are in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case. · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law. · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
