ARMED PEOPLE ROBBED MR. MOHAMMED JAMAL IN ABU-KERSHOLA,SUDAN
On 14th January 2023, three armed robbers obstructed the way (road) from
Chamchaka to AbuKershola and robbed Mr. Mohammed Jamal who was travelling on
the same road. The case was reported at Abu-Kershola police but, police did not
respond.
On 14th January 2023, Mr. Mohammed Jamal Mohammed (a trader) was traveling
from Chamchaka to
Abu-Kershola using his own tuktuk (an automobile with three wheels). He was
from a weekly market.
Along the way, he was obstructed by three armed men putting on face masks and
they robbed him
under gun point. They robbed him of three million Sudanese pound (about $5500)
and after they
punctured the three tyres of his tuktuk and disappeared. Afterwards, Mr.
Mohammed managed to reach
at Abu-Kershola police office and reported the case. However, police did not
carry out any
investigations up to date.
Mr. Mohammed Jamal Mohammed (35 years old) is a trader also known by the
nickname of SamiJedu. Chamchaka is a village located in Abu-Kershola locality
of South Kordufan State/ Nuba
Mountains and it is about 25 km west Abu-Kershola town. Chamchaka has a weekly
market attended
by people from towns and villages around.
HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the
safety of civilians in conflict areas
and calls upon;
· Police in South Kordufan
State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to
immediately investigate this case.
· The prosecutor in South
Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.
· The security committee in
South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the
safety of civilians.
