URGENT APPEAL
SAF ARRESTED MR. AL-RASHID FARAJ-ALLAH IN KADOGLI, SUDAN
On 4th August 2023, Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Kadogli arrested Mr. AL
Rashid Musa FarajAllah. SAF accused him of being a secret agent (spy) of
SPLA-N. He is still held incommunicado at Kadogli military base which raised
fears that he could be undergoing torture.
On the morning of 4th August 2023, seven (7) soldiers from Sudan Armed Forces
came with a military vehicle and arrested Mr. AL-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah from
his work place (where he makes charcoal) at Kohleeyat village near Kadogli
town.
They accused him of spying for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army – North
(SPLA-N). He was taken and detained (incommunicado) at Kadogli military base
where they do not allow people to visit (access) him. This raised fears that he
could be undergoing torture.
HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during
this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the
following:
· The Sudan Armed Force in
Kadogli to immediately release Mr. Al-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah
unconditionally or refer him to the court of law if there is a genuine case
against him.
· The commander of SAF in South
Kordofan state/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the
circumstances that led to the arrest of Mr. AL Rashid Musa and make the results
public.
· The Sudanese Armed Forces to
stop the arrest of civilians.
Additional information:
Mr. Al-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah (53 years) from Miri tribe (Nuba), a resident of
Kohleeyat village and a charcoal maker.
Kadogli is the capital of South Kordofan State / Nuba Mountains. Kohleeyat is a
village located 15 km West of Kadogli town.
As the military confrontation between SAF and RSF continues in Khartoum and
other states, SAF carried out arbitrary arrest
operations in South Kordofan State/ Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile state
particularly targeting the youth. Recently, Kadogli
experienced series of attacks by Sudan People Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N).
As a result, SAF reacted by arresting
people arbitrarily.
For instance: on 10th August 2023, Sudan Armed Forces in Kadogli arrested Mr.
Mohammed Kurtokela and Mrs. Noha
Abdel-Fattah Tiya from their homes. The reason for the arrest was that the two
were accused by spreading rumors (harmful
information) and terror among civilians. They were released later after
interrogation, intimidation and torture.
