UNFAMILIAR PERSONS SHOT AND KILLED A BUILDER IN GARDOOD TORO, SUDAN

On 16th July 2024, unidentified persons robbed and shot at construction workers in Gardood Turu area. This led to the immediate death of Mr. Musa Abdulelgadir. The case was reported at police which came and stopped at visiting the crime scene.

On 16th July 2024, at 4:00PM (Sudan local time), two unidentified persons from the nomad Arab (recognized by their accent) came to the camp of eight (8) workers who were working on the maintenance of a bridge in Gardood Toro area and asked them (workers) where they were from. The workers replied that, they are from Talodi town and had come to work at the bridge, and then the two unidentified persons left. At around 7:00PM, the same two persons came accompanied by two others. They threatened the workers and robbed them of their mobile phones under gunpoint. But, Mr. Musa Abdulelgadir Mohammed Yousif resisted and refused to hand over his items. There and then, they (assailants) shot him dead instantly

and left.

The workers (colleagues to the deceased) notified the closest Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) base which was about 1.5km away. SAF sent a military vehicle, picked the dead body and took it to Talodi. The body was buried after filing a case at Talodi police, and the police had visited the crime scene and no more investigation was made.

Gardood Toro is an area located on the road linking Talodi and Kologi towns in South Kordofan State/Nuba Mountains, it’s about 40 km east Talodi town and known as nomad camps area mostly Arab from Hawazma tribe.

                                                            UPDATE ON

ETHIOPIAN AUTHORITY ARREST OF A SUDANESE ACTIVIST IN ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA

On 29th July 2024, the Ethiopian police released on bail the Sudanese activist Mr. Haitham Ali (Husham Wad Galiba) from their detention in Addis Ababa. They did not give a clear reason for the arrest. They mentioned that an individual (litigant) had complaint against him. However, there was no case filed.

On 28th July 2024 around 5:00 PM (GMT), Mr. Haitham Ali Mohamed (known by name Husham wad Galiba) was arrested from his house in Addis Ababa by six people who came with a seven-seater white car. Out of the six (6) people who conducted the arrest, four (4) were from Ethiopian Federal Security (as indicated on their Identity Cards) and the other two (2) were Sudanese (putting on face masks) from Sudan embassy in Addis Ababa (according to their word of mouth, that’s how they introduced themselves). Mr. Haitham was taken to the Federal First Instance Court, Ledta branch in Addis Ababa.

On 29th July 2024, Mr. Haitham was released on bail that the pledge was signed by one of the Sudanese activists who resides in Addis Ababa/ Ethiopia while his phone and personal belongings (wallet) were seized.

On 30th July 2024, Mr. Haitham was accompanied by his lawyer as he received back his phone and other belongings from the police. The Ethiopian police gave them a verbal response (statement) that, it was a scandal case which was earlier filed (reported) by a Sudanese businessman named Mr. Mohammed Osman. However, the lawyer found that there is no genuine case that was filed in form of a statement yet Mr. Haitham was detained the whole night of 29th July 2024. Mr. Haitham returned to his family but the whole family remained worried about their security.

HUDO Centre was reliably informed that, Sudan government is involved and interested in this case of Mr.Haitham.

Note: Mr. Mohammed Osman is a businessman connected to the suspicious and corrupt military (SAF) investments (according to the articles) that Mr. Haitham had disclosed through a series of articles under title of ‘‘the devil’’. In these articles the name of Mr. Mohammed Osman was mentioned with some other SAF military Generals.

HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of Mr. Haitham/ Husham wad Galiba and calls upon:

 The Ethiopian government to investigate the misconduct by the security organs and to make the findings public.

 The Ethiopian authorities to ensure the safety of Mr. Haitham since Sudan government became serious threats for his life.

 The international human rights organization to put pressure on the government of Sudan and

Ethiopia government to ensure security and safety of Mr. Haitham and his family.

End:
