SAF ARRESTED MR. AL-RASHID FARAJ-ALLAH IN KADOGLI, SUDAN

AL-RASHID FARAJ-ALLAH IN KADOGLI, SUDAN</b><br> <b>On 4th August 2023, Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Kadogli arrested Mr. AL Rashid Musa FarajAllah. SAF accused him of being a secret agent (spy) of SPLA-N. He is still held incommunicado at Kadogli military base which raised fears that he could be undergoing torture.</b><br> On the morning of 4th August 2023, seven (7) soldiers from Sudan Armed Forces came with a military vehicle and arrested Mr. AL-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah from his work place (where he makes charcoal) at Kohleeyat village near Kadogli town.<br> They accused him of spying for the Sudan People's Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N). He was taken and detained (incommunicado) at Kadogli military base where they do not allow people to visit (access) him. This raised fears that he could be undergoing torture.<br> <br> <b>HUDO Centre </b>is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:<br> · The Sudan Armed Force in Kadogli to immediately release Mr. Al-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah<br> unconditionally or refer him to the court of law if there is a genuine case against him.<br> · The commander of SAF in South Kordofan state/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the<br> circumstances that led to the arrest of Mr. AL Rashid Musa and make the results public.<br> · The Sudanese Armed Forces to stop the arrest of civilians.<br style="text-align: -webkit-auto; text-size-adjust: auto;"> <br> <b>Additional information:</b><br> Mr. Al-Rashid Musa Faraj-Allah (53 years) from Miri tribe (Nuba), a resident of Kohleeyat village and a charcoal maker.<br> Kadogli is the capital of South Kordofan State / Nuba Mountains. Kohleeyat is a village located 15 km West of Kadogli town.<br> As the military confrontation between SAF and RSF continues in Khartoum and other states, SAF carried out arbitrary arrest<br> operations in South Kordofan State/ Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile state particularly targeting the youth. Recently, Kadogli<br> experienced series of attacks by Sudan People Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N). As a result, SAF reacted by arresting<br> people arbitrarily.<br> For instance: on 10th August 2023, Sudan Armed Forces in Kadogli arrested Mr. Mohammed Kurtokela and Mrs. Noha<br> Abdel-Fattah Tiya from their homes. The reason for the arrest was that the two were accused by spreading rumors (harmful<br> information) and terror among civilians. They were released later after interrogation, intimidation and torture.<br> <b>The violated rights: </b>Personal freedom<br> · Article 46 of the Constitutional Document 2019.<br> · Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.<br> · Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.<br> · Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<o:p></o:p></p>
