SAF ARRESTED MR. MOHAMMED IN ABU JIBAIHA, SUDAN

<p>       <b> No.: H.K/UA/14/024                                                                                                                                     Date: 2nd December 2024</b></p> <h5>                                                                              URGENT APPEAL</h5> <h6>                                                             <b>SAF ARRESTED MR. MOHAMMED IN ABU JIBAIHA, SUDAN</b></h6> <p>    <b>On 27th October 2024, Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers arrested Mr. Mohammed Hassan from where he is residing in Abu Jibaiha. SAF accused him of being a collaborator of RSF. He is still held incommunicado and could be undergoing torture.</b></p> <p>   On 24th October 2024, Mr. Mohammed Hassan Dafallah together with his family fled from the war situation in Khartoum and came to Abu Jibaiha. On 27th October 2024, three (3) days after his arrival to Abu Jibaiha, a group of SAF soldiers came with a military vehicle and arrested him. He was arrested from Elgala neighbourhood of Abu Jibaiha where he was residing with his family. The soldiers did not give a reason as to why he was arrested but they were shouting at him while accusing him to be a collaborator of RSF. They (SAF soldiers) drove him away in their vehicle to the military garrison.</p> <p>   Since then, Mr. Mohamed has been held incommunicado in Abu Jibaiha military garrison and his family has not been allowed to visit him or ask about him.</p> <p>   HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of the conflict/ fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:</p> <p> The Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Abu-Jibaiha to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Mohammed or send him to the courts of law if he is facing any charges.</p> <p> The commander of SAF in South Kordufan State /Nuba Mountains to investigate the circumstance behind his arrest.</p> <p> The Sudanese Armed Forces to stop the arrest of civilians.</p> <p> The prosecutor in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to ensure the rule of law.</p> <p>   <b>  Additional information:</b></p> <p>   Mr. Mohammed Hassan Dafallah (53 years old) is married, with five children. He is from Bargo tribe and together with his family were residents of Toti Island in Khartoum. He used to sell water in the gold mine areas around Abu Jibaiha duringthe summer season. Originally, he is from Abu Jibaiha town.</p> <p>  Abu Jibaiha town is the capital of Abu Jibaiha locality in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains.</p> <p>  Toti is an island in a mid of Khartoum town and it was sieged by RSF since the war started and it was difficult for the residents to move out particularly with their family.</p> <p>  Since the war between SAF and RSF broke out in Sudan, the internally displaced people (IDPs) were accused of supporting the RSF since they arrived to SAF controlled areas particularly those who delayed in evacuating the RSF controlled area.</p> <p>   <b>The violated rights:</b> Personal freedom</p> <p> Article 46 of the Constitutional Document 2019.</p><p> Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.</p> <p> Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.</p>
