<p>No. H.K/UA/10/020<br> 25th July 2020 <br> <br>                                         URGENT APPEAL FURTHER WAVE OF DISPLACEMENT WITHIN KADOGLI, SUDAN <br> On 22nd July 2020, more than two thousand people were displaced from their homes in Kadogli and settled in school premises. This was because of the threats and shootings by Rapid Support Force (RSF) in their neighbourhoods. On 21st and 22nd July 2020, more than two thousand people from the northern part of Kadogli town (Murta, Kulba and Elshaeer neighbourhoods) were displaced from their homes. The displaced people settled in school premises like Elzaytouna secondary school, Kalemo, Ghabsha basic schools and Balandeeya training centre. The displacement came as a result of deployment and shootings by RSF soldiers in response to the demonstration/ protest by residents. The residents demonstrated because of the frequent murder incidents that had taken place in recent months targeting farmers while they are at their farms. The demonstration was prompted by murder incident of 20th July 2020 where three (3) people lost their lives including a woman. As a result, the residents and the relatives of the victims demonstrated the following day (21st July 2020) demanding for protection and rule of law. The same day of demonstration (evening), the RSF deployed many soldiers within the mentioned neighbourhoods and they were shooting in the air. As a result of the shootings, residents were scared and they moved out of their homes and sought refuge in school premises within Kadogli. HUDO is still very concerned about the situation/ lives of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government to urgently investigate the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains and to solve it. <br> · Sudan government to investigate the activities of RSF and to ensure the rule of law. <br> · Sudan government to ensure the protection and safety of people in conflict areas. <br> · Sudan government to dissolve and disarm government militias. <br> · Sudan government to respect its international obligations towards citizens. <br> · The UN agencies, INGOs and national NGOs in Sudan, to urge Sudan government to take its responsibility. HUDO Centre More information Kadogli is the capital of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Murta, Kulba and Elshaeer are peripheries neighbourhoods, located on the northern part of Kadogli town neighbouring Kadogli airport and mostly inhabited by people from Nuba ethnicity. Case background: For more than six months, HUDO has been expressing to Sudan government about the state of insecurity which is mainly caused by the government militias led by RSF in South Kordufan and other areas under conflict. This is the second wave of displacement in Kadogli within two months caused by RSF. From the beginning of the cultivation season, many murder incidents against farmers in their farms were reported. For instance, in Kadogli; <br> · On 20th July 2020 morning hours, two farmers Mr. Yousif Mohammed Ahmed Adam together with his elder sister Ms. Fatima Mohammed Ahmed were shot dead by five armed people while they were cultivating at their farm in Eltomat suburb of Kadogli. <br> · On 24thJune 2020 morning hours, Mr. Nawai Elgaili Nawai was found dead with gunshot wounds at his farm in Damba suburb of Kadogli. <br> · On 5th June 2020, three farmers (Mr. Michael Khamees, Mr. Musa Yousif and Mr. Osman Elamein Kuku) were killed at their farms by Rapid Support Force (RSF) soldiers in Murta of Kadogli.
