TWO PEOPLE MURDERED BY PDF IN ABU KERSHOLA
<p>No. H.K/UA/06/020 <br> 11th May 2020 <br> <br> URGENT APPEAL TWO PEOPLE MURDERED BY PDF IN ABU-KERSHOLA, SUDAN <br> On 8th May 2020, Mr. Hamza Ramadan and Mr. Mohammed Elias were killed by PDF members and their possessions were looted. The two incidents happened in Abu-Kershola locality. The murder cases were reported at Abu-Kershola police office but no further step was taken. On 8 th May 2020, four armed men in People Defense Force (PDF) uniform came riding two motorbikes and invaded Mr. Hamza’s family garden at Abu-Kershola. They ordered him (Hamza) to give them the key of his motorbike but he did not comply. Immediately, one of them/PDF shot him in his abdomen and forcefully took the motorbike with its key. Thereafter, the neighbours came only to find Mr. Hamza died and took the dead body to the town hospital. On the same day (8 th May 2020), about sixty armed men most of them dressed in PDF uniform came riding motorbikes and invaded the nomads’ camp at Sefaifeer area of Abu-Kershola. They shot randomly and killed Mr. Mohammed Elias and two of his cows. Thereafter, they took away around three hundred and four (304) cattle. The two incidents were separately reported to police at Abu-Kershola but, no further investigations were carried out by police not even a visit to the scene of crime. A reliable source informed HUDO that, the people at Abu-Kershola are currently under tension. HUDO is very concerned about the situation and lives of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government at state and central level to urgently investigate the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains and to solve it urgently. <br> · Sudan government to ensure that police executes their duties responsibly and observe the rule of law. · Sudan government to ensure the protection and safety of people in conflict areas. <br> · Sudan government to ensure dissolve and disarm of PDF. <br> · Sudan government to respect its international obligations towards their citizens. HUDO Centre More information Mr. Hamza Ramadan Mohammed (24 years old) was a farmer and Mr. Mohammed Elias (34 years old) was a cattle keeper. Abu-Kershola town is the capital of Abu-Kershola locality in Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Mr. Hamza’s family gardern is two (2) km east Abu-Kershola town. Sefaifeer area is in a distance of thirteen (13) kilometres west Abu-Kershola town. Since the former president was toppled by the peaceful revolution in April 2019, the insecurity in Nuba Mountains continued and it’s mainly caused by PDF soldiers/ members. They kill many civilians and loot properties yet, the police does not carry out investigations to logical conclusions and the central and state governments are not helping. For instance; <br> · On 31stMarch 2020, a group of PDF soldiers in Dalami locality kidnapped farmers with their tractor and robbed them of their money and mobile phones. The relative of the kidnapped people managed to pursue and rescue them. The case was reported but no investigations were conducted. <br> · On 22ndFebruary 2020, three masked armed men in PDF uniform near Rashad town killed a civilian. The case was filed at Rashad police office against anonymous. <br> · On 29thJanuary 2020, one PDF soldier shot at a gathering of civilians, killed two people and injured other three at Abu-Kershola. The case was reported at Abu-Kershola police office against him (PDF soldier) but no further action was taken by police. <br> · On 4thDecember 2019, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Eltahir was shot dead by PDF soldiers in his far at Shaq-Elkitir of Umbrembeta. After shooting him, they also looted his sesame harvest. The case was reported at Umbrembeta police office against anonymous but, no further investigations have been carried out yet. <br> · On 21stNovember 2019, Mr. Mohammed Eissa was shot dead and Mr. Mohammed Osman was injured by six armed PDF soldiers in Abu-Kershola. The case was reported at Abu-Kershola police office against anonymous but, no further investigations have been carried out yet. <br> · On 18thSeptember 2019, Mr. Abdalla Ismail and Ms. Mahaseen Edriss were killed by PDF soldiers in Garada village of Al-Abbasiya locality. No punitive action had been taken by authorities.
