CIVILIAN SHOT DEAD NEAR KOLOGI

<p>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/13/022                                                                                                                                   Date: 7 th March 2022 </p> <p>                                                                                                        PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                               CIVILIAN SHOT DEAD BY SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS NEAR KOLOGI, SUDAN </p> <p>On 25th February 2022, Mr. Saleh Mubarak was shot dead by armed people near Kologi. The murder case was reported at Kologi police but, the police did not investigate further. On 25th February 2022, Mr. Saleh Mubarak was travelling in a commercial truck with others from Aleri to Abu-Jibaiha. They were obstructed by four (4) armed people near Gardood Toro before reaching Kologi. However, the driver didn’t stop and the armed people shot bullets randomly towards the truck. As a result, one bullet shot Mr. Saleh Mubarak on his abdomen and he passed away before reaching Kologi. The dead body was buried at Kologi and the case was reported at Kologi police office but no investigations were carried out. Mr. Saleh Mubarak (30 years old) was a trader. Gardood Toro is about 20 km southwest of Kologi town. Kologi is the capital of Gadeir locality in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure that there’s safety of civilians.</p><p> End: </p><p>For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com </p>
