Campaign of Arrest in BN
<p><b>HUDO Centre No. H.K/PS/62/021 <br> 1<sup>st</sup> November 2021 <br> PRESS STATEMENT <br> ARBITRARY ARREST CAMPAIGN IN BLUE NILE STATE, SUDAN</b> <br> Since 25th October 2021, armed military troops (SAF and RSF) carried out arbitrary arrests in Damazin and Roseries towns of Blue Nile State. They assaulted and tortured the detainees before releasing them though, tomorrow some of them will be tried before a court; this arrest campaign is part of the measures taken by the military coup leaders towards the ongoing demonstrations in Sudan’s towns. On 25 th October 2021, a group of Sudan Armed Force (SAF) soldiers arrested five university students in Damazin market. The names of arrested students are; ELsadig Abubaker, Mohammed Jumaa Ishaq, Abduelmajid Eisa Adam, Mohammed Abdalla and Abdu-Aal Musa. A case was opened against them (students) at Damazin police under article 69 0f Sudan Criminal Code 1991 (disturbance of public peace). They were later released that same day under bail. Recently, they were informed to appear before court by 2nd November 2021. On 26th October 2021 midnight, Mr. Muhanad Babikir (member of the dismantled former regime committee in BN) was arrested by SAF soldiers from his house in Damazin town, he was detained at the military base and released the following day morning. On 30th October 2021, Rapid Support Force (RSF) in Roseries arrested randomly more than fifteen youth including an underage while they (RSF) were patrolling within town neighbourhoods. Some of their names are: Mohammed Isam, Munzir Ahmed Balla, Mohammed Mukhtar and Amein Ahmed Hassan. That same day, RSF knocked two people on motorbike (Musa Hassan Ahmed and Bashir Abduelbagi) and arrested them. RSF could not allow them to access medical treatment for their accident injuries. All the detainees were taken to Roseries police and a case was filed against them under article 69 of Sudan Criminal code 1991. They were assaulted and later released on bail. Up to now, the motorbike of the two injured people is still held by police. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians and calls upon: <br> · The prosecution office in Blue Nile State to stop such kinds of arrests and to drop cases against the detainees <br> · The national, international organizations and UN agencies to pay attention to the conflict areas especially during this time of the military coup. <br> <br> End: For more information, please write to hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
