Killing of Zakaria in armed robbery incident near Kadogli

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/46/021 <br> 1st August 2021 <br>                                                                                                             PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                                         KILLING OF ZAKARIA BY ARMED ROBBERS NEAR KADOGLI, SUDAN</b> <br> On 26th July 2021, Mr. Zakaria Hassan was killed and other passengers were robbed under gunpoint by masked people near Kadogli. The case was reported to Kadogli police against anonymous, but no further investigation was carried out. On 26 thJuly 2021, Mr. Zakaria Hassan together with other passengers were traveling by motorbike (tuktuk) from Hajar Elfoul market to Kadogli town. When they reached at Elafan seasonal river, they were obstructed by four armed and masked people. All passengers were robbed of their smart phones except Mr. Zakaria who refused to hand over his phone. The four attackers/ robbers fought him and ended up shooting him two bullets on to his head. The case was reported to the nearby military location also filed against anonymous at Kadogli police but no serious step was taken by police or security organs to apprehend the perpetrators. Mr. Zakaria Hassan was a trader in Kadogli market. Hajar Elfoul market is a market southeast Kadogli used by people coming from both sides of government and SPLA-N territories. Khor Elafan is about 5 km south Kadogli town. Kadogli is the capital city of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government to hold South Kordufan State security organs for the misconduct. <br> · Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains. <br> · Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed <br> · Sudan government to dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms. <br> <br> End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
