Consternation of Kadogli dwellers for 2nd time
<p><b>No.: H.K/PS/39/021 <br> 25th June 2021 <br> PRESS STATEMENT <br> FRIGHTENING OF RESIDENTS BY MILITIA IN KADOGLI, SUDAN</b> <br> On 19thJune 2021, unidentified armed people (group) attacked two security posts in Kadogli. The security personnel retaliated by shooting back and this terrified residents especially children. On 19th June 2021 at midnight, armed people attacked Hajar Elmac Bridge and Daraga ELrabaa security checkpoints in Kadogli. They attacked by shooting at the security personnel and the security shot back. Kadogli residents including children were woken up by this exchange of fire (shooting). The residents are not certain about security because this is the second attack on checkpoints in less than a month. Previously, on the night of 25th May 2021, Kadogli cinema, Daraga ELrabaa and Hajar Elmac Bridge check points were attacked by unidentified people. There was shooting also. There is no causality/ victim resulting from this shooting yet (between the attackers and security personnel). A lawyer from Kadogli commented to HUDO Centre that; “this attack seems to be related to the Kadogli prison attack on 18th June 2021 when the attackers attempted to free some defendants (prisoners). During this prison attack, one of the assailants and one prisoner were killed by police in fire exchange (shootings). So, I believe this attack which took place on the following day (19th June 2021) is a payback act”.
