Killing of three farmers near Um Brambeta

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/33/021 <br> 28th May 2021 <br>                                                                                                            PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                       MURDER OF THREE FARMERS BY UNKNOWN PEOPLE IN DALAMI LOCALITY, SUDAN</b> <br> On 20th May 2021, three farmers were killed by unknown people at their farms in Dalami locality. The dead bodies were found by other farmers and their families who reported/ filed the case against anonymous at Dalami police, but no further investigation was carried out. On 20 th May 2021, three farmers Mr. Abdalla Ibrahim Jad, Mr. Haidar Osman Kodi and Mr. Abduelaziz Edriss were together at their farms near Kadbar village preparing the land for cultivation. At evening hours, these farmers didn’t come back to their homes. Out of concern, their family members and fellow farmers went out to look/ search for them only to find them dead at their farms with gunshot wounds. The footsteps of assailants were seen. The family reported the case at Dalami police office but no investigation was carry out by police. The deceased are Mr. Abdalla Ibrahim Jad (54 years), Mr. Haidar Osman Kodi (31 years) and Mr. Abduelaziz Edriss (73 years). All of them were internally displaced persons (IDPs) who settled at Taya IDP camp of Um-Brambeta of Abu-Kershola locality. Their farms are near Kadbar village of Dalami locality which is about 10 km northeast of their camp. Abu-Kershola and Dalami Localities are in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains neighbouring each other. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government to hold South Kordufan State police accountable forthe misconduct. <br> · Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains. <br> · Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed <br> · Sudan government to dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms. <o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p>End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
