Death and injuries in incident near Aleri

<p><b>No. H.K/PS/21/021 <br> 23 March 2021 <br>                                                                                                               PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                                        ROBBERS SHOT AND KILLED ONE, INJURED OTHERS NEAR ALERI, SUDAN</b> <br> On 20thMarch 2021, a group of armed men fired gunshots on a commercial vehicle near Aleri Sharq, killed a female passenger and injured other two. The case was reported at Kologi police but there was no action taken. On 20th March 2021, a commercial vehicle was attacked by gunmen who shot and killed one passenger and injured others. The vehicle had twenty four (24) passengers traveling from Aleri Sharq to Abu-Jibaiha. The assailants (according to the passengers, they believe it was armed robbery attempt) shot at the vehicle at a place within El-Aradeeba area. They shot a female (Ms. Khadeija Mohammed Abduelraheem) on the head and she died instantly. Her mother (Mrs.Hawa Ahmed Ramadan) was also shot and injured on left shoulder. The driver (Mr. Omer Abduelsalam Algarai) was shot and injured on the left arm. The driver did not stop and he managed to drive away from the scene and reached Kologi town where they reported the case at police. The dead body of the deceased was taken away for burial and the mother (Mrs. Hawa) was taken to Abu-Jibaiha hospital. Kologi police did not take any measures to investigate or visit to the incident scene. The deceased Ms. Khadeija Mohammed Abduelraheem (27 years) was a teacher at Aleri Sharq secondary school for girls. Mrs. Hawa Ahmed Ramadan (about 60 years old) is the mother to Khadeija. Mr.Omer Abduelsalam Algarai (32 years old) is the driver. Aleri Sharq/ Aleri East, Kologi, Abu-Jibaiha are towns located in the Eastern region of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State (SK). El-Aradeeba area is about 40 km North of Aleri Sharq on the way to Kologi and Abu-Jibaiha.
