Armed robbery incident near Kologi

<p><b>No. H.K/PS/10/021 <br> 17<sup>th</sup> February 2021 <br>                                                                                                             PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                                                            ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENT NEAR KOLOGI, SUDAN</b> <br> On 14th February 2021, four armed and masked people robbed passengers who were traveling on a commercial vehicle at a point near Kologi. The robbers also shot a SAF soldier who died after some hours. The case was reported at Kologi military base but there was no action taken. On 14th February 2021, twelve (12) passengers were traveling on a commercial vehicle from Abu<!--[if !supportFootnotes]-->[1]<!--[endif]-->Jibaiha to Dallas gold mine of Aleri, when they reached at Gardood Toro, they got obstructed by four (4) armed people with face-masks and two of the assailants were dressed in People Defense Force (PDF) uniform. The assailants robbed the passengers of their money on gunpoint. During the robbing process, another truck accompanied by Sudan Armed Force (SAF) soldier (named; Elfateh Hassan Gabeir) was passing by and the assailants immediately shot towards the soldier and injured him on the chest and then they run away. The injured soldier was taken back to Kologi where the case was reported at the military base, and thereafter he was taken to Abu-Jibaiha hospital but he died on arrival. Police and military have not taken any measures/ steps to apprehend the perpetrators. Abu-Jibaiha, Kologi and Aleri are towns located in the Eastern region of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State (SK). Gardood Torro is a jungle at a distant of less than 20 km South of Kologi where the single road to Talodi and Aleri passes. At this point, the road passes between two hills where many incidents had taken place and passengers have lost lives. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government to urgently investigate and solve the continuous security issues at this point of Gardood Torro. <br> · Sudan government to ensure the safety of people and the freedom to exercise their constitutional rights. <br> · Sudan government to hold to account security agencies in SK for not executing their duties. <br> · Sudan government to dissolve militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms. <br> <br> End: For more information please write to hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
