ARREST AND RELEASE OF SEVEN YOUTH BY SAF IN ROSERIES SUDAN

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/34/020 <br> 28th August 2020 <br>                                                                                 PRESS STATEMENT(For immediate release) <br>                                                       ARREST AND RELEASE OF SEVEN YOUTH BY SAF IN ROSERIES, SUDAN</b> <br> On 25th August 2020, Sudan Arm Forces (SAF) in Roseries of Blue Nile State arrested seven youth and released them on the same day evening after intimidating them. They were arrested for attempting to address the public. On 25th August 2020, a group of SAF soldiers arrested seven youth from Ganees market in Roseries town of Blue Nile State. They were arrested because of attempting to conduct a public address meeting at the market, the arrest was before the start of the event. The arrested youth were detained at SAF headquarters in Roseries. During their detention, they were insulted, threatened and warned not to try it again otherwise they will be arrested and tortured. They were later released late in the evening. The names of the arrested youth are: Ahmed Eltayeeb Abu-Jameila (26 years old), Khatab Mohammed Farajalla (25 years old), Ali Babikir (25 years old), Noureldin Ali Babikir (27 years old), Sabri Khaleefa (33 years old), Abduelshafae Desomi (28 years old) and Ahmed Omer Saadalla (29 years old). All of them are members of Sudan People Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-N) One of the arrested youth informed HUDO that, the public address was planned to be about the peace process and the current political status. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government to hold to account the SAF commandant in Blue Nile for the arrest and intimidation of those youth. <br> · Sudan government to preserve and protect the civilians’ rights. <br> · Sudan government to stop security forces and its militias from violating rights of citizens especially in conflict areas. <br> · Sudan government to respect its international obligations. <o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p>End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
