MURDER OF A FARMER BY UNKNOWN PEOPLE IN DAMBA KADOGLI SUDAN
<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/24/020 <br> 26th June 2020 <br> PRESS STATEMENT <br> MURDER OF A FARMER BY UNKNOWN PEOPLE IN DAMBA-KADOGLI, SUDAN</b> <br> On 25<sup>th</sup> June 2020, the dead body of Mr. Nawai Elgaili Nawai was found by his family members at his farm in Damba/ Kadogli. The murder case was reported at Kadogli police against anonymous. On 24thJune 2020 morning hours, Mr. Nawai Elgaili Nawai had gone to cultivate at his farm in Damba suburb of Kadogli. As his usual routine in the farming season, he could go in the morning and return home by late in the evening, but on 24 th June 2020, he did not come back home. The following day (25th June 2020), his family went to the farm looking for him and they found him dead. The dead body was taken by his family to Kadogli hospital for postmortem. The postmortem report indicated that the cause of death was the four (4) bullets in his chest and abdomen. The dead body was buried by his relatives at Kadogli and the murder case was filed against anonymous at Kadogli police. A social activist in Kadogli informed HUDO Centre that, “For two reasons, I suspect Rapid Support Force (RSF) to be the culprits. The first one, apart from security, no one is armed in Kadogli except RSF members. Secondly, since the beginning of this cultivation season, members of RSF repeatedly announced that, they will not allow cultivation this year. So far, recently a number of farmers have been killed at their farms by RSF”. Mr. Nawai Elgaili Nawai (58 years old) was a farmer. Damba is a periphery suburb in Kadogli town at a distance of six (6) km Northwest Kadogli centre and closer to Albardab village (the village that was attacked by RSF members in May 2020). HUDO is very concerned about the security situation in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Sudan government at state and central level to immediately investigate this case. <br> · Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains. <br> · Sudan government to ensure rule of law and to bring the suspected perpetrators before the court. <br> · Sudan government to dissolve the PDF/ RSF and disarm them. <o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p>End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
