SAF ARRESTED MR. ABDALLA KHALIL IN UMBREMBETA, SUDAN

ABDALLA KHALIL IN UMBREMBETA, SUDAN</h6> <p>             <b>   On 29th August 2023, SAF soldiers together with some militias arrested Mr. Abdalla Abduelkarim</b></p> <p><b>  Khalil from a place near Umbrembeta. They accused him of spying for the Sudan People’s</b></p> <p><b>Liberation Movement - North (SPLA-N). He was detained (incommunicado) and tortured in</b></p> <p><b>Umbrembeta and Abu-Kershola military bases before being released on 12th September 2023.</b></p> <p>On 29th August 2023, SAF soldiers together with Popular Defense Force (PDF) militia’s soldiers</p> <p>arrested Mr. Abdalla Abduelkarim Khalil along the road between Ambair and Abu Al-Hassan villages.</p> <p>During the arrest, PDF soldiers first searched him as they asked him where he was heading to and</p> <p>from. They physically assaulted (beaten) him and transported him to the SAF military base in</p> <p>Umbrembeta where he was kept incommunicado and tortured (beaten). They accused him of spying</p> <p>for the Sudan People's Liberation Army - North.</p> <p>On 2nd September 2023, Mr. Abdalla’s mother went to visit him, but the SAF soldiers did not allow her</p> <p></p> <p>to meet (access) him. On 7th September 2023, SAF in Umbrembeta had transferred Mr. Abdalla to Abu-</p> <p>Kershola military garrison.</p> <p></p> <p>On 12th September 2023, Mr. Abdalla was released unconditionally.</p> <p>Mr. Abdalla Abduelkarim Khalil (23 years) is a Nubian farmer and lives in Abu Al-Hassan village.</p> <p>Umbrembeta is 45 km south of Abu Kershola town in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State</p> <p>/Nuba Mountains. Both Amber and Abu Al-Hassan villages are located along the road between the</p> <p>two mentioned towns.</p> <p>HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting</p> <p>between SAF and RSF and calls for the followings:</p> <p> Sudan Armed Forces to stop arresting civilians arbitrarily.</p> <p> The Commander of SAF in South Kordofan state/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the</p> <p>circumstances that led to the arrest and torture of Mr. Abdalla Khalil and make the findings public.</p> <p>End: For more information, please write to hudo2009@gmail.com</p>
