<p><b>No.: H.K/PS/05/022 <br> 23rd February 2022</b><br> <b> PRESS STATEMENT</b><br> <b> TRADER KILLED IN ARMED ROBBERY NEAR GARDOOD NYAMA, SUDAN</b><br> On 2nd December 2022, Mr. Musa Ali was killed and other passengers robbed by six (6) armed<br> robbers while they were travelling from Gardood Nyama to Elzaafaya. The case was reported by<br> the passengers at Gardood Nyama police but, police did not respond.<br> On 2nd December 2022, Mr. Musa Ali was travelling with other passengers from Gardood Nyama to<br> Elzaafaya village after attending the weekly market. Along the way, they were obstructed by six (6)<br> armed people putting masks on their faces. They robbed them of their money, smart phones and other<br> valuable items under gun point. Due to the dispute with the armed robbers, they shot him (Mr. Musa<br> Ali) twice in the abdomen and head. Mr. Musa Ali died instantly in front of the other travelers. The dead<br> body was taken back by the passengers to Gardood Nyama where the case was filed at police office.<br> Thereafter, the dead body was taken for burial. Up to date police did not carry any investigations.<br> Mr. Musa Ali (35 years) is a trader (mobile vendor). Gardood Nyama is a border village between South<br> and North Kordufan States. Elzaafaya is a village in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains in a<br> distance of 35 km southwest of Gardood Nyama<br> <b>HUDO Centre </b>is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas<br> and calls upon;<br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to<br> immediately investigate this case.<br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.<br> · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the<br> safety of civilians.<br> <b>End:</b><br> For more information, please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
