RSF SOLDIERS KILLED A CIVILIAN AND INTIMIDATED OTHERS NEAR ABUKERSHOLA, SUDAN

<p><b>No.: H.K/PS/01/023 <br> 7th February 2023</b><br> <b>                                                                                     PRESS STATEMENT</b><br> <b>   RSF SOLDIERS KILLED A CIVILIAN AND INTIMIDATED OTHERS NEAR ABUKERSHOLA, SUDAN</b><br> On 21st January 2023, four armed and masked RSF soldiers riding motorbikes shot and killed<br> Mr. Abubaker Abduelwahab Edris and threatened passengers on a truck near Abu-Kershola.<br> The case was reported to Abu-Kershola police but, there was no effective response.<br> On 21st January 2023, Mr. Abubaker Abduelwahab Edris together with Mr. Yahya Abduelgadir Daoud<br> were sitting at bus stop/station along the way between Khor Eldelaib and Abu-Kershola. They were<br> attacked and shot at by four armed men who were dressed in Rapid Support Force (RSF) uniform, the<br> attackers also had face masks and were riding two motorbikes. Mr. Abubaker was shot and killed<br> instantly while Mr. Yahya managed to escape. During the shooting time, there was a truck with<br> passengers which arrived to the scene. The attackers also shot at the truck which forced the<br> passengers to jump off and flee towards the bush. Then the attackers run away/ disappeared. The dead<br> body was taken by Mr. Yahya and the terrified passengers using the truck to Abu-Kershola where the<br> body was buried. The case was reported to Abu-Kershola police office. Up to date police didn’t conduct<br> any investigations.<br> Both Mr. Abubaker Abduelwahab Edris (25 years old) and Mr. Yahya Abduelgadir Daoud (22 years old)<br> are from Tagoui tribe/ Nuba. Abu-Kershola and Elfaid Um-Abdalla in Abu-Kershola locality of South<br> Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains.<br> <br> <b>HUDO Centre </b>is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas<br> and calls upon;<br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to<br> immediately investigate this case.<br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.<br> · The security committee in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to dissolve and disarm militias<br> and ensure the safety of civilians.<br> <br> <b>End: </b>For more information, please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
