<p><b>No.: H.K/PS/06/022 <br> 23rd February 2022</b><br> <b> PRESS STATEMENT</b><br> <b>ARMED ROBBERS KILLED ONE AND INJURED MANY PASSENGERS NEAR </b><b>ABU-KERSHOLA, SUDAN</b><br> On 10th December 2022, four armed robbers obstructed passengers who were travelling from a<br> weekly market at Sidrah to Abu-Kershola. In the process, they killed Mr. Adam Yousif and<br> injured many passengers especially Mr. Abdalla. The case was reported at Abu-Kershola police<br> but, police did not respond.<br> On 10th December 2022, four armed men putting face masks obstructed a commercial vehicle while<br> shooting at it. The truck was travelling with passengers from Sidrah village to Abu-Kershola after the<br> weekly market. The incident happened at place known as Shaq-Eldukhry, north of Abu-Kershola. As a<br> result of the shooting, one passenger (Mr. Adam Yousif Abduelhameed) died and others got injured<br> especially Mr. Abdalla Yousif who was shot on the abdomen. The assailants robbed passengers of<br> their money, mobile phones and goods and they later disappeared.<br> After the incident, the truck with passengers/victims also moved up to Abu-Kershola. The victims<br> reported the case to Abu-Kershola police. The injured person was transferred to Elobeid town hospital<br> (capital of North Kordufan) for treatment. The dead body was taken by relatives for burial. However,<br> police did not go on to investigate not even visiting the crime scene up to date.<br> Sidrah is a village with an agricultural scheme. It has a weekly market attended by residents from the<br> surrounding villages and cities and it’s located within North Kordufan State at the border with South<br> Kordufan State. It is about 30 km north of Abu-Kershola. Shaq-Ekdukhry and Abu-Kershola are in AbuKershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains.<br> <br> <b>HUDO Centre </b>is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas<br> and calls upon;<br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to<br> immediately investigate this case.<br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.<br> · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the<br> safety of civilians.<br> <br> <b>End: </b>For more information, please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
