EZZELDIN ALNAEEM BY SAF IN DAMAZIN, SUDAN</b></h6><p> <b>On 15th August 2024, SAF in Damazin arrested Mr. Ezzeldin Alnaeem from his office and detained him at the military base until 22nd August 2024 when they released him. The reason behind his arrest was a dispute concerning aid distribution that he had insisted should be distributed to those who deserve it.</b></p><p> On 15th August 2024, Sudan Armed Force (SAF) soldiers arrested Mr. Ezzeldin Alnaeem from his office at the state ministry of social affairs in Damazin. He was taken and detained at the Military base of SAF where the military Intelligence (MI) department is situated, there were many other detainees within a closed yard (named; Hoosh Alestekhbarat/ the MI fenced yard). The cause of his arrest was a dispute between him and SAF’s mobilized soldiers concerning the amount of aid and its distribution within the state. The mobilized soldiers (Almustanfareen) had requested him to shift the aid to the military group of which he rejected and instead distributed it (aid) to centres of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The SAF officers got irritated and arrested him thereafter.</p><p> On 22nd August 2024, Mr. Ezzeldin was released without any conditions. Mr. Ezzeldin Alnaeem (33 years old) is a government employee at the state ministry of social affairs in Damazin (the capital city of) Blue Nile State.</p><p> <b> HUDO Centre</b> is concerned about the safety and security of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:</p><p> The Sudan Armed Force in Blue Nile State to immediately and unconditionally release any other civilians that under their detention.</p><p> The commander of SAF in Blue Nile State to investigate the circumstances that led to the arrest of Mr. Ezzeldin and make the findings public.</p><p> The Sudanese Armed Forces to stop the intimidation and arrest of civilians.</p><p> <b>End:</b></p><p>For more information, please write to hudo2009@gmail.com</p>
