Armed robbery incidences around Talodi

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/33/022 <br> 22nd June 2022 <br>                                                                                                            PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                                                   ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENTS AROUND TALODI, SUDAN</b> <br> In May 2022, a number of armed robberies were committed around Talodi town. The cases were reported at Talodi police but the police did not investigate further. In the last week of May 2022, many incidents of armed robbery occurred around Talodi town. The robberies were mainly committed by armed people from Arab tribes dressed in Rapid Support Force (RSF) uniform. For instance; On 24th May 2022, two robbery incidents took place at Gardood Toro. In one incident, a goods truck driven by Mr. Mahjoub Saleh traveling between Kalogi and Talodi was obstructed by four armed men dressed in RSF uniform. They forcefully took a new motorbike (under gunpoint) and forced the driver to give them its (motorbike) registration document. The driver informed HUDO Centre that, “it seems the robbers knew about the motorbike and had come purposely for it, since they took nothing else”. The second incident, a commercial vehicle carrying passengers from Abu-Jibaiha to Talodi was robbed on gunpoint. They (a group of armed people) robbed passengers of their money, smart phones and other valuable items. On 28th May 2022, a motorbike/ tuktuk driven by Mr. Mustafa Elnour was traveling from Alkees goldmine to Talodi. It was obstructed by two armed men five (5) km east of Talodi, they robbed the driver of his smart phone and money. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case. <br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law. <br> · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians. <br> <br> End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
