Murder of Ms. Hawa Haroun in Lagorey

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/32/022 <br> 21st June 2022 <br>                                                                                                            PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                                                        MURDER OF MS. HAWA HAROUN IN LAGOREY, SUDAN</b> <br> On 16thMay 2022, for unknown reason Ms. Hawa Haroun Habib was shot dead by armed men at her farm in Lagourey. This murder case was reported to Kadogli police but no effort was made by Police to follow up the matter. On 16thMay 2022, Ms. Hawa Haroun Habib (40 years) together with other two ladies were attacked by four (4) armed men. They (women) were working at Hawa’s farm near Lagourey village. The three (3) women ran away from the assailants but, the assailants managed to catch Ms. Hawa. The other two ladies were managed to reach the village and informed the people/ residents. The residents ran back to the scene only to find Ms. Hawa dead with gunshot wound on the head. The survived two ladies stated; the features of the armed men/ attackers indicate that they were from nomad Arab. The case was reported to Kadogli police but police did not even visit the crime scene. Lagourey village’s location is about 10 km east of Kadogli town/ the capital of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case. <br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law. <br> · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians. <br> <br> End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
