Alfangalo village attack

<p><b>HUDO Centre No.: H.K/PS/23/022 <br> 14th April 2022 <br>                                                                                                            PRESS STATEMENT <br>                                    ARMED PEOPLE ATTACKED, KILLED AND INJURED RESIDENTS OF ALFANGALO VILLAGE, SUDAN</b> <br> On 6th April 2022, for unknown reason eight (8) armed people riding motorbikes attacked Alfangalo village, killed one person and injured other resident. The incident was reported to Alkewaik police but police did not carry out the necessary investigations. On 6th April 2022, eight (8) armed people riding four (4) motorbikes attacked Alfangalo village and shot at people before disappearing. Mr. Abdalla Eldood Abdalla Saeed (30 years) was killed by gunshot on the head and back. Other resident, Mr. Abdalla Elias Abdalla Berair (24 years old) was sustained injured with a fracture on his right arm and another bullet in his right leg. The injured person was first taken by the residents to Kadogli hospital for first aid and then transferred to Elobeid hospital for further treatment. The case was reported by the victims’ relatives to Alkewaik police post but no further investigation was carried out by police and the reson behind the attack remained unknown. The two victims were residents of Alfangalo village. Alfangalo village is about 7km East of Alkewaik/ capital of Elreif Alshamali locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. Alkewaih is about 40 km North of Kadogli town. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon; <br> · Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to immediately investigate this case. <br> · The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law. <br> · The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure that there’s safety of civilians. <br> <br> End: For more information please write to: hudo2009@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></p>
